In the case of the Cleft Lip, is normal that the patient present stitches that cover the lip and the side of the nose that was affected. These stitches will be withdrawn by the Dr. Cárdenas in an interim from 4 to 5 days. The patient generally will tolerate adequately the pain and antibiotics and analgesics will be prescribed and for his/her comfort.
At the same time, for the cleft palate, the stitches inside the mouth will be dissolved eventually, and if there was some correction in the lip, we will withdraw the points in 4 to 5 days. This surgery is something more painful, for which the pain management has to be optimum for the welfare of the patient. Antibiotics will be prescribed also to protect of some infection.

It is necessary to recommend an exploration and exhaustive revision of the children with lip/ palate split owed that data exist that describe that to a 13% of the affected possess some another defect.
In the case that just the palatine fissure or cleft palate are present, there is a possibility that even 50% of the affected have another defect al birth.
If a couple has a son with cleft lip and palate, or cleft palate only, the risk that they can have a son affected is of the 2 to 4%. If one of the parents is affected, but none of the children presents it, the risk that be born a son affected is of the 3 to 8%. The risk increases if one of the parents had the condition and one son also.
